The City of Richfield
has supported and operated Wood Lake Nature Center for over 30 years. In
1991, recognizing the need to keep the facility operating efficiently, Friends
of Wood Lake (FOWL) was formed as an advocacy and fundraising group.
FOWL's contributions support the center's environmental education programs,
facility upgrades, and unforeseen problems that can exceed the City’s budget. Wood Lake has become
such a special place for the community that the Friends of Wood Lake was formed
as the center celebrated its 20th year.
Membership
The City of Richfield has been a generous
supporter of the Nature Center since its inception in 1971. But when cuts
are made to funding and costs rise, FOWL tries to make up the difference.
A successful friends group is critical to the continued growth of the nature
center.
