Injured Animal Information

Wood Lake Nature Center does NOT accept injured or abandoned wildlife.  Animals are accepted at:

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC) in Roseville, MN is a nonprofit, donor-supported organization.  The WRC is located in Roseville next to the Harriet Alexander Nature Center.  It was established in response to the increased need for medical care of injured, ill and orphaned wildlife.  The center has a staff of 14 and over 400 volunteers that care for, rehabilitate and release wildlife.  The WRC treats over 7,000 injured and orphaned wildlife each year.

If you have found a sick, injured or orphaned animal, please visit the WRC's web site at wrcmn.org or call the WRC at 651.486.WILD (9453) before bringing the animal to the Center.

WRC hours are: 8am - 8pm 7 days a week.

 

Animal Trap
Animal traps are an effective way to remove unwanted animals from your property.

Unwanted Animal Information

Wood Lake Nature Center has live animal traps available for rent. We require that you relocate the animal yourself as well as return the trap within two weeks in its original condition. Animals may not be relocated to the Nature Center.

Animal Trap Rental:

  1. Call or stop in at the nature center to inquire about trap availability (one trap per customer).
  2. Pay the rental fee ($5 for Richfield residents, $7 for non-Richfield residents).
  3. A Nature Center employee will explain how to set the trap.
  4. Trap the animal and relocate it (at least 5 miles from the trapping location; not at Wood Lake)
  5. Clean the trap.
  6. Return the trap to Wood Lake within two weeks.

Traps available for use include:

Raccoon traps – good for animals of larger size
Squirrel traps – good for animals of medium size
Chipmunk traps – good for animals of small size
